The beliefs of the Catholic Church are rooted in the Sacred Scriptures and Sacred Tradition that have been handed down throughout history and guarded by the Holy Spirit. The core of the teachings can be found in the Catechism of the Catholic Church - a thorough and carefully designed tool to help individiuals understand the Faith in a clear and concise manner. The depth and beauty of this Faith can be found in the core Profession of Faith or Nicene Creed:
I believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen.
One cannot simply profess their belief in God and not be changed by it, rather men and women of Faith must allow their Faith to touch every aspect of their lives. As Catholics, and as members of St. Ann and St. Joseph Catholic Parishes, we strive to become well-rounded disciples that seek to grow in holiness together. While we recognize it is not always easy to follow the Lord, we know that we are nourished by the Sacraments, strengthened by a rich Spirituality, formed by the Faith, and called to live that out in our Community and through Service. How we live out our Faith should be seen in the words and acitons of every individual who calls him or herself a disciple.
Our Faith impacts who we are and how we live our lives. We are not perfect, but keep striving for the life God has called us to live!
We love our Faith and we love how our Parishes help other people live out their Faith! We would love to answer any questions you have about our Faith or about our dynamic Parishes. We would also love the opportunity to help you join our Parishes. If you have questions or would like to speak to one of our priests, deacons, or staff members, please use this form to learn more. We look forward to speaking with you!
